The package is distributed as a download, a box copy, or is preinstalled on computers as OEM software. Additional functions, including parental controls and e-mail spam filtering, are available as extensions developed also by Symantec.

Configuring Norton 360 Data Backups
Norton 360 is a popular comprehensive computer security application suite sold by Symantec Corporation for home and business use. Norton 360 v3.0 and newer versions of the Symantec product are designed to require minimal configuration after initial installation. You will still need to take manual action to configure the Norton 360 Firewall and Norton 360 Backups after finishing the installation of the program on your computer.
- Open the Norton 360 Control Panel. Then pick the “Tasks” menu option and select the “Manage Backup Sets” choice.

- Choose the “Program Rules” menu tab. Then single left-click the “Firefox” icon on the listing or applications, and select the “Remove” menu option.
- Pick the “Add” menu option. Use the File Chooser to find the Firefox program folder that is normally located in “c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox” and choose the “Firefox.exe” application.

- Click “Apply,” then “OK” to exit Norton 360. From this point, all scans will exclude the folders for the programs chosen.

You can find LiveUpdate in the “Norton 360″ folder in your computer’s “All Programs” menu.
- Disable any other types of antivirus programs you have on your computer. - Select the “Until I turn it back on” option in the pop-up window that asks how long the Norton 360 firewall should remain disabled. Click the “OK” button and exit from the Norton 360 software.

- Run a Comprehensive Check, and Norton will delete all Temporary files and Internet history lists. This takes muck longer than a Quick Check and should only be run once a week or once every month.
- Check the Results page when the scan is complete. Check the “Viruses and Spyware Scan” results to see if viruses were detected and removed. Select “Files Removed by Virus and Spyware Scan” to see what files were removed.
- Set Norton 360 to automatically run a weekly or monthly Comprehensive Check. Select “Tasks & Settings” on the main window then choose “Change Advanced Settings and Task Scheduling Settings.” Input how often the scan will run and designate a day and time.
- Use Backup and Restore to make backup copies of data. Select “Change Backup Settings,” and then choose which “Files to Back Up.” Select “Backup Location” and “Backup Schedule.” Make sure you have the right hardware to save on, like an external hard drive, flash drive, CD or DVD.
